The solid hard maple housing is finished with a lacquer craft developed independently by Sa-kamoto Otozo Shoten Co., Ltd., a company founded in 1900 (Meiji 33) that incorporates Japa-nese traditional crafts into industrial products. The “foil pattern,” which uses black lacquer as a base layer and sulfur-smoked silver foil torn into pieces and applied like a collage, expresses a sense of luxury and depth.
