RAAL 1995 Immanis
Upon its release February 2024, Immanis quickly caught the attention of headphone aficionados everywhere. It only takes a few minutes of listening to discover why this triple-ribbon design is so talked about. The soundstage is enormous. It’s fast. It’s transparent. It’s lively and exciting.
Superior Craftsmanship
Immanis is designed to provide a luxurious and comfortable listening experience. The memory foam ear pads are covered with lamb suede on the inside and perforated leather on the outside. The round ear pad opening is thoughtfully designed to comfortably accommodate larger ears. For connectivity, the headphones utilize standard 3.5 mm TRRS sockets, offering wide compatibility with high-end cables and audio sources.
The three Immanis ribbons have a combined surface area of 25.2 cm², a shell diameter of 11 cm and an impedance of 0.057Ω (0.29Ω with the 1.8 m long Star-8 MkII headphone cable). The maximum sound pressure level increases by 3 dB, the round ear cup opening increases to 74 mm, and the weight to 610 g. Adding a touch of elegance, the external grill now features a refined gold-plated finish.
In comparison, the Magna ribbons have almost 29% more surface area than the CA-1 driver, while the Immanis ribbons are almost twice the surface area of the CA-1 and 1.45 times larger than the SR1. Between them, Immanis offers 50% more surface area than Magna and has a larger front chamber.
Ribbon Current Drive Interface
The Immanis requires a special amplifier that can handle the almost non-existent resistance of the headphones. A special interface in the form of a headphone stand has been developed for the new Immanis and Magna, which, together with a special cable, enables connection to a “normal” headphone amplifier.
The Immanis can of course also be connected to an existing TI-1a/b/c, HSA or VM (Direct Drive Amplifier) interface.
