The new generation of the DALI loudspeaker, called KATCH G2, remains true to the sonic virtues of its predecessor, but has been brought up to date in some technical aspects. For example, the KATCH G2 is equipped with the currently most powerful Bluetooth receiver, version 5.0, and is thus also ready for high-resolution audio data of the aptX HD and AAC standards.
The power supply of the KATCH G2 has also been upgraded. Instead of the 2,600 mAh lithium-ion battery used in the original model. A more powerful 3,300 mAh battery has been installed in the KATCH G2, which again significantly increases the maximum playing time.
Also new are the three particularly attractive colour variants Chilly Blue, Iron Black and Caramel White in which the KATCH G2 is offered. However, DALI has not modified the tried-and-tested operating concept, the driver configuration with two 21 mm dome tweeters, two 90 mm bass-midrange drivers and two passive cones supporting the bass, nor the integrated digital 2 x 25 watt amplifier. Coupling two KATCH G2 in pairs for stereo playback is still possible.
Design
The DALI KATCH G2 and the KATCH ONE soundbar feature a rounded housing and are available in various colour finishes. The leather carrying strap integrated into the KATCH G2 makes it easy and convenient to take the Bluetooth portable anywhere, while the robust aluminium enclosure with separate front and rear panels minimises potential internal resonances and ensures a voluminous, clean sound image. Leather straps are also found on the KATCH ONE for hanging the exceptional speaker on the wall in an elegant way.
Battery playtime
The integrated Li-Ion battery has a capacity of 3,300 mAh, which means that the DALI KATCH G2 is ready to play for up to 30 hours with one battery charge at normal volume. The battery, which comes from a renowned manufacturer renowned throughout the industry for its high-performance products, can be replaced and recharged within 2 hours using the charger included in the scope of delivery.
Connections
Listening to music via the DALI KATCH G2 is as easy as setting up a Bluetooth connection. Contact is made traditionally or via NFC ("Near Field Communication"), and the integrated Bluetooth 5.0 receiver also understands aptX, aptX HD and AAC transmissions if the music source provides them.
