Westone 3 True-Fit In-Ear Earphone

The Westone 3 is the first and only (as of November 2009) true 3-way triple driver earphones designed specifically for personal listening. Inside each one of the Westone 3 earpieces there are 3 balanced armature drivers. Similar to the Shure SE530 and Ultimate Ears Triple-fi, except that the Shure and the UE models have a 2-way crossover configuration with 2 identical drivers for mids and highs and 1 driver to handle the low frequency.

Westone 3 Configuration:

- Driver II: Mids
- Driver III: Lows

This allows for a better frequency distribution much like your home stereo speaker. These balanced armature drivers do not move air like most inexpensive dynamic drivers such as the ones that come with the Apple iPod. Because balanced armature drivers don’t move air, you need a perfect fit in order to get the bass.
