- The LP-UNF features a USB-C input which supports 24-bit resolution and up to 48kHz sample rate. Connect your computer, laptop, tablet, phone, or other USB-capable audio devices. iOS devices with a lightning connector will require Apple’s Camera Adapter Kit, sold separately.
- The LP-UNF offers TRS and RCA inputs, including gaming consoles, televisions, consumer electronics, and pro audio gear. Whatever you’re connecting to the LP-UNF, it has an appropriate input to support it!
- The LP-UNF features Bluetooth 5.1, allowing you to connect your smartphone, computer, tablet, or other Bluetooth device to the LP-UNF. Bluetooth 5.1 supports CD-Quality or higher streaming from most output devices.
- The 3-D Imaging Waveguide allows you to hear a 3-D soundstage from a stereo pair of speakers. By matching the shape of the waveguide to the interactions of the HF and LF drivers, this waveguide produces a stereo image that is wider, taller, and deeper than the space where the speakers are placed.
- A speaker's given position in a space can drastically change its frequency response. Happily, most of the common positions are fairly predictable and easily corrected. Kali's team came up with boundary compensation EQ settings at the Village Recorder in Los Angeles to help you get the optimum sound for where you need to put your speakers. Combined with the LF and HF trims, this will ensure that the speakers sound their best no matter what room you're mixing in.
- Bass on the LP-UNF is delivered by a woofer with a larger magnet and larger voice coil than any comparable speaker on the market. This gives you a more accurate bass response that extends lower, so you can dial in exactly the low end sound you need. Nothing is over-represented, but the bass that is present on your track will come through with clarity and punch.
- The LP-UNF uses the same 1-Inch textile dome tweeter that Kali uses in our larger LP- and IN-Series speakers.This tweeter gives smooth high frequency response that is not fatiguing to work on over long periods. Transients and other HF material are crisp and clear without being over-represented.
- The integrated power amp provides clean power with very low self-noise to the system. At arm’s length, you will not hear noise from the LP-UNF’s electronics at all. The digital amplifier also houses the DSP that Kali is using to control the system, which includes the loudspeaker tuning, the limiter circuit, and the user-selectable boundary and EQ presets.

Acoustic Design
The LP-UNF is specifically designed for your desk, no matter how else you’re using your desk. Reflections from the drivers to the desk to your ears are accounted for, giving you a perfectly clear picture of your mix that you can rely on to translate well. The LP-UNF has specific settings to let you use it:
- On stands behind your desk,
- On a desk, away from walls,
- On a desk, against a wall,
- On a desk, on speaker stands, away from walls,
- On a desk, on speaker stands, against a wall
- On a recording desk with rack units, away from walls,
- On a recording desk with rack units, against a wall.
The LP-UNF uses much of the same technology as Kali’s best-selling LP-6 and LP-8 V2 speakers. A 3-D imaging waveguide is employed to create a detailed, lifelike stereo image where all of the elements of the mix can be clearly perceived in space.
The large front-firing port tube uses a unique. fluid dynamics derived shape that eliminates port noise and compression. This allows you to place the speakers against walls without worrying about adverse effects on the port’s performance.
Despite its small size, the LP-UNF’s high-excursion 4.5-Inch woofer packs plenty of punch, extending down to 39 Hz and allowing less than 2% distortion on the low end.
